A FEMALE GRADUATE WHO NEVER KNOW STATE AND CAPITAL

A female youth corper in sokoto camp whose name has been hidden for security reason and representing platoon 7 for a miss nysc pagentry for the batch b program for 2018 corpers.

Tho she is very beautiful and good looking, very elegant in style, mere looking at her as a guy, u will definitely fall for the lady, but mentally she is down and insignificant, during the program, she was asked to pick a number for the question to be giving to her to progress to the higher level, she did and was eventually asked the question, 'WHAT IS THE CAPITAL OF SOKOTO' which is one of the simplest question ever been asked in the history of pagentry in Nigeria, but she replied with "KATSINA" happily, everybody thought she was joking until she repeated it and that was how she became the talk of the camp throughout the end of the camp for 2018 camp at sokoto state batch b, now its now a slogan for platoon 7 "katsina is the now the capital of sokoto" for all platoon 7 members for the set of 2018 batch b at sokoto state.

CANADA,MEXICO OR USA TO HOST THE WORLD CUP 2026

In a long-anticipated vote on Wednesday, the joint bid of the United States of America (USA), Mexico and Canada defeated Morocco its only challenger, to win the hosting rights for the 2026 World Cup. The result was determined by more than 200 national soccer federations, who cast their ballots to cap FIFA’s annual Congress. “This is an incredible, and incredibly important moment for soccer in North America and beyond,” Carlos Cordeiro, the president of U.S Soccer said. The 2026 tournament will feature an expanded field of 48 teams, an increase from the current 32. It will also mark the first time in FIFA’s history, that a three-nation bid has been awarded the showpiece event. The joint bid’s plans will see 60 of the 80 games played in the United States, while Canada and Mexico will host 10 games each.

HOW THE WORLD CUP BEGAN

The current format of the competition involves a qualification phase , which currently takes place over the preceding three years, to determine which teams qualify for the tournament phase, which is often called the World Cup Finals . 32 teams, including the automatically qualifying host nation(s), compete in the tournament phase for the title at venues within the host nation(s) over a period of about a month. The 20 World Cup tournaments have been won by eight national teams. Brazil have won five times, and they are the only team to have played in every tournament. The other World Cup winners are Germany and Italy, with four titles each; Argentina and inaugural winner Uruguay , with two titles each; and England, France and Spain , with one title each. The World Cup is the most prestigious association football tournament in the world as well as the most widely viewed and followed sporting event in the world, exceeding even the Olympic Games ; the cumulative audience of all matches of the 2006 FIFA World Cup was estimated to be 26.29 billion with an estimated 715.1 million people watching the final match, a ninth of the entire population of the planet. History History of the FIFA World Cup The world's first international football match was a challenge match played in Glasgow in 1872 between Scotland and England, which ended in a 0–0 draw. The first international tournament, the inaugural edition of the British Home Championship, took place in 1884. [6] As football grew in popularity in other parts of the world at the turn of the 20th century, it was held as a demonstration sport with no medals awarded at the 1900 and 1904 Summer Olympics (however, the IOC has retroactively upgraded their status to official events), and at the 1906 Intercalated Games. After FIFA was founded in 1904, it tried to arrange an international football tournament between nations outside the Olympic framework in Switzerland in 1906. These were very early days for international football, and the official history of FIFA describes the competition as having been a failure. [8] At the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, football became an official competition. Planned by The Football Association (FA), England's football governing body, the event was for amateur players only and was regarded suspiciously as a show rather than a competition. Great Britain (represented by the England national amateur football team ) won the gold medals . They repeated the feat at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm . With the Olympic event continuing to be contested only between amateur teams, Sir Thomas Lipton organised the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy tournament in Turin in 1909. The Lipton tournament was a championship between individual clubs (not national teams) from different nations, each one of which represented an entire nation. The competition is sometimes described as The First World Cup , [9] and featured the most prestigious professional club sides from Italy, Germany and Switzerland, but the FA of England refused to be associated with the competition and declined the offer to send a professional team. Lipton invited West Auckland , an amateur side from County Durham , to represent England instead. West Auckland won the tournament and returned in 1911 to successfully defend their title. In 1914, FIFA agreed to recognise the Olympic tournament as a "world football championship for amateurs", and took responsibility for managing the event. [10] This paved the way for the world's first intercontinental football competition, at the 1920 Summer Olympics , contested by Egypt and 13 European teams, and won by Belgium . [11] Uruguay won the next two Olympic football tournaments in 1924 and 1928 . Those were also the first two open world championships, as 1924 was the start of FIFA's professional era. World Cups before World War II Estadio Centenario , the location of the first World Cup final in 1930 in Montevideo , Uruguay Due to the success of the Olympic football tournaments, FIFA, with President Jules Rimet as the driving force, again started looking at staging its own international tournament outside of the Olympics. On 28 May 1928, the FIFA Congress in Amsterdam decided to stage a world championship itself. [12] With Uruguay now two-time official football world champions and to celebrate their centenary of independence in 1930, FIFA named Uruguay as the host country of the inaugural World Cup tournament . The national associations of selected nations were invited to send a team, but the choice of Uruguay as a venue for the competition meant a long and costly trip across the Atlantic Ocean for European sides. Indeed, no European country pledged to send a team until two months before the start of the competition. Rimet eventually persuaded teams from Belgium , France, Romania, and Yugoslavia to make the trip. In total, 13 nations took part: seven from South America, four from Europe and two from North America. The first two World Cup matches took place simultaneously on 13 July 1930, and were won by France and the USA, who defeated Mexico 4–1 and Belgium 3–0 respectively. The first goal in World Cup history was scored by Lucien Laurent of France. [13] In the final , Uruguay defeated Argentina 4–2 in front of a crowd of 93,000 people in Montevideo, and in doing so became the first nation to win the World Cup. After the creation of the World Cup, FIFA and the IOC disagreed over the status of amateur players, and so football was dropped from the 1932 Summer Olympics. Olympic football returned at the 1936 Summer Olympics , but was now overshadowed by the more prestigious World Cup. The issues facing the early World Cup tournaments were the difficulties of intercontinental travel, and war. Few South American teams were willing to travel to Europe for the 1934 and all North and South American nations except Brazil and Cuba boycotted the 1938 tournament. Brazil was the only South American team to compete in both. The 1942 and 1946 competitions, which Germany and Brazil sought to host, were cancelled due to World War II and its aftermath. World Cups after World War II. The opening game of the Maracanã Stadium , shortly before the 1950 FIFA World Cup . National Archives of Brazil. The 1950 World Cup , held in Brazil , was the first to include British participants. British teams withdrew from FIFA in 1920, partly out of unwillingness to play against the countries they had been at war with, and partly as a protest against foreign influence on football, but rejoined in 1946 following FIFA's invitation. The tournament also saw the return of 1930 champions Uruguay, who had boycotted the previous two World Cups. Uruguay won the tournament again after defeating the host nation Brazil, in the match called " Maracanazo" (Portuguese: Maracanaço ). In the tournaments between 1934 and 1978 , 16 teams competed in each tournament, except in 1938, when Austria was absorbed into Germany after qualifying, leaving the tournament with 15 teams, and in 1950, when India , Scotland , and Turkey withdrew, leaving the tournament with 13 teams. Most of the participating nations were from Europe and South America, with a small minority from North America, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. These teams were usually defeated easily by the European and South American teams. Until 1982, the only teams from outside Europe and South America to advance out of the first round were: USA, semi-finalists in 1930; Cuba , quarter-finalists in 1938; North Korea, quarter-finalists in 1966 ; and Mexico , quarter-finalists in 1970 . Expansion to 32 teams Interior view of the Soccer City in Johannesburg, South Africa, during a match at the 2010 FIFA World Cup . The tournament was expanded to 24 teams in 1982 , [20] and then to 32 in 1998 , [21] also allowing more teams from Africa, Asia and North America to take part. Since then, teams from these regions have enjoyed more success, with several having reached the quarter-finals: Mexico , quarter-finalists in 1986 ; Cameroon , quarter-finalists in 1990 ; South Korea , finishing in fourth place in 2002 ; Senegal , along with USA , both quarter-finalists in 2002; Ghana , quarter-finalists in 2010; and Costa Rica, quarter-finalists in 2014. Nevertheless, European and South American teams continue to dominate, e.g., the quarter-finalists in 1994, 1998, and 2006 were all from Europe or South America and so were the finalists of all tournaments so far. Two hundred teams entered the 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification rounds; 198 nations attempted to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup , while a record 204 countries entered qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup . Expansion to 48 teams In October 2013, Sepp Blatter spoke of guaranteeing the Caribbean Football Union 's region a position in the World Cup. In the 25 October 2013 edition of the FIFA Weekly Blatter wrote that: " From a purely sporting perspective, I would like to see globalisation finally taken seriously, and the African and Asian national associations accorded the status they deserve at the FIFA World Cup. It cannot be that the European and South American confederations lay claim to the majority of the berths at the World Cup. " Those two remarks suggested to commentators that Blatter could be putting himself forward for re-election to the FIFA Presidency. Following the magazine's publication, Blatter's would-be opponent for the FIFA Presidency, UEFA President Michel Platini responded that he intended to extend the World Cup to 40 national associations, increasing the number of participants by eight. Platini said that he would allocate an additional berth to UEFA, two to Asia Football Confederation and Confederation of African Football, two shared between CONCACAF and CONMEBOL, and a guaranteed place for the Oceania Football Confederation . [26] Platini was clear about why he wanted to expand the World Cup. He said: " [The World Cup is] not based on the quality of the teams because you don't have the best 32 at the World Cup ... but it's a good compromise. ... It's a political matter so why not have more Africans? The competition is to bring all the people of all the world. If you don't give the possibility to participate, they don't improve. " In October 2016 FIFA president Gianni Infantino stated his support for a 48-team World Cup in 2026. On 10 January 2017, FIFA confirmed the 2026 World Cup will have 48 finalist teams.

SENATOR BOROFFICE: I HAVE NO GRUDGE WITH GOV. AKEREDOLU

THE lawmaker representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, on Monday, said he had no problem with the state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, despite the governor declaring political war against him. Boroffice stated this in Akure, while on a visit to the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to sympathised with journalists who were attacked by suspected political thugs during the parallel congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. The Senator, however, said the differences between him and Akeredolu should not be misconstrued to mean that he was antagonistic to the progress of the state. “I have no personal grudge against him. I don’t see him as a threat to my ambition but I don’t know whether he sees me as a threat to his ambition. Honestly, I cannot explain but this is part of life and once you are focused on what you are doing, you will regard those things a distraction. “In a democratic setting, everybody is welcomed. Whether you agree with me or against me, as much as we agreed on the same ideology, we can work together in a party. “It is my belief that we all need to work together in this state to move the state forward. I believe that I can contribute a lot to this government but I cannot impose myself on the governor. ” If he needs me, l am always available. He has never invited me to any occasion that I turned down; he has not extended any hands of fellowship to me that I refused. It is only him that can explain why he adopted this attitude towards me. Boroffice, however, said the leadership of the party in the Southwest had made moves to reconcile him and the governor but said all the efforts were thwarted by governor Akeredolu. “About three attempts were made to reconcile me and the governor by the South West zonal chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure, but all the attempts were aborted by the governor and it takes two to tango,” he said. The Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology, however, denied the allegation that former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was behind the factional crisis in the state chapter of APC.

Politics: Return Ekiti Looted Funds.- guber candidate tells Fayemi

The Kolapo Olusola Campaign Organisation (KOCO), the campaign organization of the Ekiti State Deputy Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, must go beyond seeking forgiveness from Ekiti people for his four years misrule and return the billions of naira looted from the state treasury. In his speech after being declared winner of the APC primary election on Saturday, Fayemi had apologised to the people “for all the errors of omission or commission he made during his first term as governor, between 2010 and 2014.” Reacting, KOCO said in a statement issued on Monday, by its Directorof Media and Publicity, Lere Olayinka, said that it was good that Fayemi realized that he did not do well when he was governor and deemed it necessary to apologise, but added that “after apologizing, restitution should follow.” The statement read; “The APC candidate must make restitution byreturning all that he stole from Ekiti when he was governor, especially the N4.9 billion the probe panel indicted him of looting from N25 billion bond and the N1.5 billion that he allegedly donated to fund President Muhammadu Buhari’s election. “Apart from the looted funds that he must return, Fayemi must also visit the families of those teachers who died prematurely as a result of his bad policy of demoting Principal and Vice Principal to class teachers and pay compensation to them. “Furthermore, he must demonstrate that he is now a changed person by desisting from telling white lies as he did on National Television yesterday, lying so brazenly that he did not give APC delegates money to get their votes. I am sure no one will go for a ‘warmonger’, with antecedent of treasury looting over and ahead of a builder, whose efforts and technical expertise brought Ekiti State from number 34 in education to number one.”

Russia 2018: Nigeria releases her 30 man squad

The Super Eagles’ manager, Gernot Rohr, has released his 30-man provisional list for the Russia 2018 World Cup. The list released on Monday included two surprises – Junior Lokosa, who has scored 18 goals in the Nigeria Professional Football League, and Simeon [Simy] Nwankwo, who scored five goals for Italian Serie A side, Crotone, in April. From the angle he has operated since his tenure kicked off 21 months ago, the inclusions were a major surprise, as one thing about the former Bayern Munich defender is consistency. However, the main question answered by Rohr’s list was the exclusion of Vincent Enyeama. There have been continuous calls that the 35-year-old be invited as he seemed the most viable option between the sticks but the counter argument has been that the Eagles should not repeat the Peter Rufai mistake of 1998. Rohr has often stated that he is more interested in building for the future than retracing his steps. And on the issue of goalkeeping, he said he would not take an old goalkeeper to Russia to sit on the bench. The 30-man list Goalkeepers [4]: Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Dele Ajiboye, Daniel Akpeyi, Francis Uzoho Defenders [10]: William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Chidozie Awaziem, Stephen Eze, Bryan Idowu, Olaoluwa Aina, Kenneth Omeruo, Elderson Echiiejile, Tyronne Ebuehi, Abdullahi Shehu Midfielders [8]: Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, John Ogu, Wilfred Ndidi, Joel Obi, Mikel Agu, Oghenekaro Etebo, Uche Agbo Forwards [8]: Odion Ighalo, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Simeon Nwankwo, Junior Lokosa

IGP IDRIS Updates About the solutions to Herdsmen problem

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has said that the only genuine solution to herdsmen/farmers crisis in some parts of the country is through dialogue. IGP Idris said this at the public launch of his book titled: ‘Security and Justice: The pathway for peace and reconciliation in Nigeria’, in Lagos while appealing to Nigerians to shun inciting statements and stop playing politics with crisis. Idris disclosed that he was personally in Benue State to discuss reconciliation moves with the parties involved, adding that the responses had, so far, been encouraging. The IGP said: “The challenges we are having with these herdsmen have gone down. In Benue, we have 15 Police units on ground and I have been monitoring their successes. I was in Benue and we have been having stakeholders’ meetings, we have been discussing. “Based on this, people have been coming openly to state their problems and it is through these means that we can understand each other and reconcile our differences. “The role of traditional rulers in this reconciliation process cannot be over emphasised because most of them have the ears of their people. When you have political disagreement in these communities, these traditional rulers are handy.” He explained that the reason for writing the book was in recognition of the Nigeria Police as the nation’s core law enforcement agency which is constitutionally saddled with the responsibility of preventing and detecting crimes and criminals.

APC HAS FAILED THE WHOLE OF NIGERIA - TINUBU

The National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, admitted that the ruling party has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians after almost three years in office. He also said that the goodwill which it enjoyed during the 2015 general elections and the inauguration of the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration had been squandered. Tinubu therefore concluded that the APC has a lot of work to do to regain public confidence and solidarity before the 2019 general elections. The former Governor of Lagos State bared his mind on the state of the party on Wednesday in Abuja when he held a closed-door meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party at its secretariat. The meeting was Tinubu’s first since Buhari appointed him to reconcile all the feuding leaders of the APC in various states of the federation. In his down to earth assessment of the APC, Tinubu said that the party had faced several challenges since it took over power in 2015, stressing that it needs serious consultations and reconciliation moves to regain the goodwill of Nigerians. He listed some of the challenges confronting the APC as the disorder in the North Central and North East zones, killings and agitations, as well as intra-party squabbles. Tinubu said that the expectations of Nigerians had been high since the party won the presidential election in 2015, but regretted that the expectations had not been met. In a brief chat with journalists before he went for a close-door meeting with the NWC, the APC leader said that his visit was to consult with the party’s leadership, in line with the mandate given to him by the President, stressing that consultations and reconciliation were required since APC is still the hope of Nigerians for a better future. He said: “I am here to consult, since you are already aware of the directive and announcement of the President who is the leader of our party and the President of this country. “First, let me sympathise with our National Vice Chairman for North Central for the various incidents that are happening around that corridor, and may God bring peace to Benue, Taraba, Plateau, Nasarawa, and the country as a whole, and all other places being affected by the age-old system that we are now facing. “After the last convention of the party, congresses were held from various wards to elect representatives from the ward, local government and states levels as well as the national level. We worked hard for victory. We have never governed before, but we won the confidence of Nigerians to govern. “We have a creed to really serve the country; change and reform the country. It is not easy to have those changes implemented like instant curfew. We have to grow and face challenges. “I sympathise with us and we should equally look at ourselves. Since we won the election, the expectations were very high and the goodwill was extremely high. But where are we today? “The solution is to seek opinion and advise on the various complexities around some states or if there is any national one, to reconcile, move the party in a cohesive manner and reposition and build the confidence among ourselves”. According to Tinubu, the challenges faced by the government and the President are enormous, noting that Nigerians were not paying attention to the various statistics that are available and “we have to push that. I won’t touch those areas yet,” he said. Earlier, the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, who described Tinubu as a “Peace Ambassador”, said that his visit was significant as the President moves to heal wounds where the party has any, as well as to bring every member of the APC together under a single objective, which is to give the party a runaway victory in 2019.

DINO MELAYE IS BUKOLA SARAKI'S SON SAYS TINUBU

Oluremi Tinubu, Senator representing Lagos central, has described Senator from Kogi West, Dino Melaye as a son of Senate President, Bukola Saraki. She said this when Saraki called her to second a motion approving votes and proceedings moved by the Kogi West Senator. Saraki had asked Melaye to move a motion for the adoption of the votes and proceedings of the last legislative day, TheCable reports. Responding, Melaye said: “I want to move the motion on behalf of myself and senator Remi Tinubu.” But Tinubu said the Senate President should have asked her to move the motion because she was a ranking senator. She said, “I am a ranking senator. I was supposed to be called to approve the votes and proceedings but you gave it to him because he is your son. “You are being partial… you also gave him the best dressed. Did you look at me? I have roses all over. Today is for roses, he doesn’t even have a single rose. That since I am not your son, I will gladly second the motion, ably moved by your beloved son in whom you are well pleased. I so second.”
